Celebrating and Inspiring Collective Action at Spacemakers Park

Over the past two years, Spacemakers Park has undergone incredible citizen-led changes, and there are even more exciting transformations on the horizon! To honor these achievements and inspire future efforts, we are thrilled to be part of the Bristol Community Festival—a celebration of the past, present, and future of Spacemakers.

What to Expect at the Event:

Celebrating Spacemakers’ History

Join us as we look back on the original youth-led project that created Spacemakers Park. Some of the original youth members, along with Mark Rooney, the project manager from the early days, will be joining us to share their experiences and reflect on how the park has evolved.

Shining a Light on Recent Improvements

We’ll be celebrating the young people who have played a vital role in enhancing the park, including those from Hartcliffe Club for Young People and Merchants Academy Primary’s Growing Hope group. Their contributions to the Shelter Graffiti Project and the Herb Garden Planting were so impactful that they even won the Your Park Young Volunteers of the Year Award!

Looking to the Future

This event is a chance to meet the dedicated people working to improve Spacemakers Park, learn about upcoming projects, and find out how you can get involved.

We are also inviting local residents to help design and personalize a new Spacemakers sign! If you’d like to contribute, download the artwork and submit your design to admin@spacemakers.co.uk or bring it along to our event on March 29th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Strengthening Community Connections

The Spacemakers project has always been about fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the park. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with local counselors, community development workers from Bristol City Council, youth workers, schools, and local residents.

We are excited to collaborate with local artist Duncan, who was instrumental in creating the Shelter artwork, to help residents decorate the new Spacemakers sign in a way that represents and celebrates our community.
